Community & Culture:

The village predominantly houses Sankethi Brahmins, who migrated from Kerala over 600 years ago. Mattur and its twin village Hosahalli are also known for nurturing Gamaka art, a unique form of singing and storytelling in Karnataka. The community encourages marrying within their culture to uphold traditions.
